The Au Seize Sluice Feeder / Hopper Box has been designed and tested over years to perfect a solution that meets the following requirement:
"Speed up the processing of river gravels and stones without disturbing precious material trapped behind the sluice riffles, and to replace the tedious task of first classifying material then manually feeding it into the sluice"
When pumping material directly into any sluice box, the larger stones and rocks can upset the eddy currents and material trapped behind the riffles, and may result in gold being dragged out of the sluice.
The Au Seize Sluice Feeder / Hopper Box provides these benefits :
- Speeds up the processing of river gravels and stones making it much quicker to get down to bedrock
- Classifies the material down to 18mm and feeds into the sluice with a gentle flow
- Evenly feeds material horizontally across the flare opening
- Slows down the rate of flow, avoiding disturbing material built up behind the riffles
- Adjustable height to allow material to be deposited at an appropriate height into the sluice flare, depending upon the speed and height of the water flowing through the sluice box
- Removes the requirement to first classify then manually load into the sluice
- Compact and light, and is quick and easy to setup and take down
- Packs away into the sluice flare opening
The staggered hole grill clips in place at the high end of the feeder. This grill is made from compressed fibre glass about 5mm thick, and the holes are conical to help prevent stones from getting stuck in, and clogging it up.
All material that passes through the 18mm hole grill, will flow into the sluice without getting caught below the classifying grill.
However, clearly stones can get caught in the grill holes (this is a manual solution, no shaker mechanics are involved, as in the UK using such machinery is not allowed in most public areas); however caught up stones are easily removed due to the conical shape of the holes.
Even though there is a steep slide to the grill to give the “run off”, occasional brush down by hand or by using the gravel pump end is required to encourage the run off, and to clear out any caught up stones.
Each time material is pumped onto the grill, a follow up of clean water should then be pumped starting from the low end, and moved upwards over any material on the grill to aid the classifying.
When used without the Discharge Tray (sold separately), a gold pan should be placed below the sluice box flare end to catch the run off unwanted larger material, which can then be discarded elsewhere. Weight the gold pan down using a flat heavy stone, so that the top of the pan falls below the sluice flare!
Constructed of fibreglass using Lloyd’s Approved resin, with other components made from uPVC and stainless steel (A2 / 304) grade.
The Au Seize Sluice Feeder / Hopper Box comes with ALL fixing accessories to attach it to the Au Seize Sluice Box.
